recorrer - espacios interiores
An installation in 2025 at Bernardo Quintana Cultural Center in Querétaro, Mexico. Using reclaimed wood and recovered materials from construction and demolition, along with asphalt shingles, tar, tar paper, canvas, nails, wire, ink, soil, and flame, the project explores the internal spaces we create to protect ourselves and navigate the communities and environments we inhabit.
In a possible reading of Jerry McLaughlin's work, we may say that this exhibition travels from the clarity of the artifice of art to those complex interior places, his own and now public, that the artist makes available to us. It contains a reflection of the body and the psyche, or of the material body and the immaterial body. And let us consider that within ourselves, in our interior, we are shades of darkness; depending on the amount of light we are given, our entrails are, at most, translucent.
