A series of works created in 2023 during a residency at Ballinglen Arts Foundation in Ballycastle, County Mayo, Ireland. The work uses ashes from bog peat and willow (a peat ‘alternative’) as pigments and textural matter. The work explores the natural beauty of ash as an artistic medium and the tension between the deep cultural connection of Irish people to the harvesting and burning of peat and the need to address its sustainability and the environmental impact of its harvesting and use as a fuel.
